INTEGRATION · SAGE

Connecting Sage to your Source to Pay platform.

Sage is straightforward to run and less straightforward to integrate. Most of the difficulty is in the data, not the interface.

What makes Sage integration hard

Not a list of features. These are the things that cost time on real Sage projects.

Fragmentation across modules

Spend-relevant data is spread across modules, and assembling it into one view is the first real task.

Table relationships are intricate

The relationships between tables have to be understood properly. Partial understanding produces integrations that silently drop records.

Formats and codes are inconsistent

Different parts of the system use different conventions. Normalising them is unglamorous and it is where most of the effort goes.

Synchronisation has limits

There are practical ceilings on how current the data can be kept, and they need designing around rather than discovering late.

Duplicate vendors and items

Duplication in vendor and item records undermines spend analysis downstream, so it has to be resolved as part of the integration rather than after it.

HOW WE RUN IT

Delivered as a managed service, not a handover.

We build the integration, then run it — monitoring, error handling and support against agreed service levels. Integrations break when a source system changes, and somebody has to be watching when that happens.
